Eligible Artwork
The following criteria applies to both online and gallery exhibitions:
Allowed: 2-dimensional original paintings only. Artwork must be priced at $200 or higher.
Media allowed: acrylic, oil, watercolor, casein, gouache, egg tempura, encaustic.
Not allowed: alcohol ink, all types of drawing media (graphite, pen & ink, markers, scratch art, pastel, colored pencil), batik, digital media or images, photographs, or reproductions.
Collage is acceptable if it is no more than ten percent of the painting.
There must be at least 90% hand produced brushstrokes or other painting utensil strokes in any entry.
Not allowed: multiple-opening mats.
Allowed: unframed gallery wrapped canvases and cradleboard panels (both must be at least 1.5” deep or must be framed).
Only original work is eligible. “Original” means the painting is your own composition in concept and design, painted only by you by hand from your own sketches, photos, set-ups, or other source materials created by you. Any photo reference material must have been taken by you.
Not allowed: giclee prints.
Photo references NOT allowed - in whole or in part - include:
• Permission-granted photos taken by others
• Published or unpublished copyrighted images including magazines, books, or other
published materials that are the featured subject(s) in the artwork
• Purchased images
• Stock photos
• Vintage heirloom family photos copied verbatim
Not allowed: work painted in a live or online class or workshop with the help of an instructor.
Not allowed: use of teacher-provided images.
Allowed: paintings which have been critiqued by an instructor or fellow artist.
